The Speech Monitor was developed by Rick Arenas. He is a doctoral candidate at the University of Iowa in the department of Communication Sciences and Disorders. He is a person who stutters and his primary research interest is related to stuttering. He has a computer programming background so he decided to put this experience to use to develop this software.
Will this website grow and include other stuttering information?
Yes, this website was initially created to disburse the Speech Monitor software but the plan is to develop more speech disorder related software and put it on this website for free. One thing that is currently in development is a Windows Mobile version of the Speech Monitor so that people can have DAF/FAF on their smart phones for free. This website will also grow to include general information about the phenomena of stuttering and the treatment approaches to stuttering.
